Things You Should Never Do After A Breakup

Surviving the dreaded break up sucks big time. We all deal with it differently.

We all seem to do things after a break up that makes the situation far worse than it already is, and it’s part of the break-up process we could all do without.

Have a Bridget Jones moment with a snotty nose eating ice cream, don’t do the following:

1. Calling and texting your ex.

Block their number. Do it right now! Turn off your phone. Disconnect from all social media for a while. Find your finger hovering over their number will only cause you more pain if you press connect. Stop right now!

Contacting them will just make the situation worse. Detox yourself from them.

Yes, it is hard to do but do it you must.

2. Looking for closure.

When it’s over, it’s over. Why put yourself through more drama and pain.

Opening up the wounds more than they already are will just make matters worse for yourself.

Your ex may have the view they don’t owe you any closure, so don’t waste your time looking for it.

3. Binge drinking.

Yes, we’ve all done it. It helps to cope with the pain. Remember it’s only a temporary solution, and we have this nasty habit of doing embarrassing shit when under the influence.

The following day you then have the embarrassing fallout of the night before to deal with on top of the pain of the break-up.

4. Blaming yourself.

It’s normal to blame yourself for the break-up, DON’T. Telling yourself you are the bad person won’t do anything to help you recover from the break-up, it will most likely prolong getting over the loss.

There’s nothing wrong with thinking about the relationship and whether there is anything you can do differently for future relationships, just don’t make it all your fault, there were two of you in the relationship after all.

5. Taking anything to the extreme.

Crying, sleeping, eating, drinking, buying up all of Thornton’s chocolate display and eating the lot or going out on wild nights is ok it’s what we all do, just don’t take it to the extreme, as the only person you will be hurting is yourself.

We’ve all found ourselves binge watching our favorite TV shows in a dark room, not wanting to face the world, just don’t stay there doing it for months.

Heartbreak is a bitch, we all go through it. By all means, take your time to heal, just don’t stay there for too long.
